Improper Process Parameters

Improper Control of Injection Speed and Pressure

Injection speed and pressure play a decisive role in the injection molding process. Too fast injection speed may lead to gas not being discharged in time, resulting in gas bubbles or gas traces, while too low injection speed is likely to lead to the underfilling, short-shot phenomenon. Insufficient injection pressure will cause insufficient fluidity of the molten plastic, which will affect the denseness and appearance of the product.

Unstable Mold Temperature

Improper control of mold temperature is also a common cause of injection defects. The mold temperature is too high, and the plastic is easy to adhere to the mold surface, resulting in surface defects, such as flow marks, and color differences. Too low a temperature will lead to a decrease in the fluidity of the molten plastic, which may result in uneven filling, shrink marks, and other problems of injection molding defects.

Insufficient Holding Pressure and Cooling Time

Holding pressure and cooling time have a direct impact on the dimensional accuracy and surface quality of injection molded products. Insufficient holding pressure time may lead to defects such as shrinkage and depression, while insufficient cooling time may lead to problems of injection molding defects such as product deformation and warping.

Poor Mold Design

Gating and Runner Design Defects

Poorly designed gates and runners are one of the common causes of injection molding defects. If the gate is not correctly positioned or of the right size, it may lead to uneven flow of plastic in the mold, resulting in defects such as bubbles, burns, and short shots. Insufficient Exhaust System

Inadequate Drying of Materials

Plastic materials containing moisture are prone to gas generation during the heating and melting process, resulting in the formation of injection molding defects such as bubbles or silvering in molded products. Especially for materials with strong moisture absorption, such as nylon, polycarbonate, etc., they must be dried sufficiently before processing to avoid moisture affecting the molding quality.

Equipment Problems

Equipment Precision is Not High

The precision of injection equipment directly affects the quality of molded products. If the precision of the injection system or mold closing system of the equipment is insufficient, it may lead to product size inconsistency, deformation, and other injection molding defects. Therefore, selecting injection molding equipment with high precision and stable performance will help reduce injection molding defects.

Inadequate Machine Maintenance

Injection molding equipment requires regular maintenance to ensure its proper operation. After running the equipment for a long time, problems such as wear and tear of parts and oil leakage may occur, affecting the molding results. Therefore, regular inspection and maintenance of the equipment is needed to replace damaged parts in time to ensure the stability of the injection molding process.
